Snowy White
Terence Charles White known as Snowy White , born the March 3rd 1948 with Barnstaple (Devon), is a guitarist of British Rock . At the end of the the Seventies, it accompanies Pink Floyd at the time of two rounds before replacing Gary Moore within the group of Hard rock Irish Thin Lizzy. It starts then a career under its name then form the groups The Blues Agency and White Flames. It obtained a great success in 1983 with “Bird Of Paradise”, a languorous ballade extracted from its first album solo. It owes its nickname “Snowy” with the color of its hair, of fair very clearly.
Career
Snowy White learns the guitar under the influence from large from the Blues such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush or Albert King. With the beginning of the year 1970, it leaves the county of Devon and settles with London. It meets there Peter Green with which it sympathizes. It earns its living as musician of studio when it is approached by the members of the group Pink Floyd who urge it to assist David Gilmour at the time of the concerts.Snowy White leaves Pink Floyd in 1980 when he sees himself offering by Phil Lynott a place of permanent member in Thin Lizzy. It takes part in the albums Chinatown and Renegade which, in spite of an undeniable quality, disappoints the fans of the group. It is then requested to yield the place to John Sykes, a guitarist with the approach and the sound radically different.
In 1983, Snowy White publishes a first album solo. Individual “the Bird off Paradise” which is extract obtains one big hit. It is directed towards the blues and forms the group The Blues Agency with which it records two albums. In 1990, it finds Roger Waters at the time of a concert celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall.
During years 1990, it records a new album solo in which take part Chris Rea, David Gilmour and Gary Moore. It off publishes then a compilation of its best titles including/understanding the song “Bird Paradise”, recently given to the last style by the airline company Dutchwoman KLM which was useful about it for a publicity. Since, Snowy White continues her career with a new group, White Flames.
After that, it makes a station-wagon in order to reconsider its musical direction, during which it forms a group of blues to turn and records with 2 albums blues, “my Life Changes”, and “Open for Business”.
In June 1990, Roger Toilets, separated from Pink Floyd, asks Snowy, to play with him for spectacular “The Wall”, Roger Waters, separated from Pink Floyd, asks Snowy, to play with him for spectacular “Comfortably Numb” played from a 30 height meters platform.
In 1991, Roger Waters calls upon him again, this time to play Seville, for the concert “Guitar Legends”, at the time of the universal expo.
After this concert, Snowy starts to record the songs that it accumulated since some. The result was the album entitled “Highway to the Sun”.
Containing certain a number of distinguished guests like Chris Rea, David Gilmour and Gary Moore, this album marks also the appearance of two new, Dutch and indonésiens, brilliant musicians: Juan van Emmerloot (battery) and Walter Latupeirissa (low and rhythmic guitar). Kuma Harada also plays there of low and the guitar.
Snowy names its following discographic project, “Gold Top”, according to its from now on well-known Gibson guitar the Paul Standard Goldtop. This disc contains different rare pieces in which it took part between 1974 and 1996 like, two songs of Thin Lizzy, the jams resulting from the recordings from “In the Skies” of Peter Green (with this last with the second guitar), from the pieces live with Al Stewart with Philadelphia (in 1974), and the only full version available of the song “Pigs one the Wing” of Pink Floyd, where figure the solo of guitar of origin of Snowy.
Snowy records 3 albums with its group White Flames (a trio), “No Faith Required” in 1996, “Little Wing” in 1998 and “Keep Out: We Are Toxic” in 1999.
In 1999 Snowy joined the group of Roger Waters for the American round “In The Flesh”, which has success so much, that in summer 2000, Roger remakes another round in the states, and this time records a live DVD and CD of the spectacle. A last album, appearing “White Flames” (as a trio), “Restless”, leaves in May 2002.
From February in July 2002 Snowy carries out a world tour at the side of Roger Waters.
Spring 2005 sees the exit of a new album of White Flames, “The Way It Is” a group of 4 musicians who consists of Snowy, Richard Bailey (battery/percussions), Walter Latupeirissa (low) und Max Middleton (keyboards) Snowy currently turns with this group to promote the album. A DVD, “The Way It Is - Live” has just been carried out and is now available. From April in October 2006, Snowy turns to Europe and to the United States with Roger Waters. After that, it gives some concerts to the United Kingdom and in Europe with its group, White Flames. In November 2006, it spends one week in studio to Rotterdam in order to start to record the new album of White Flames.
