Snog

Snog is a group Australia N formed in 1988 by David Thrussell with Tim McGrath and Julia Bourke. The music of the group is a mixture of many different styles, like the industrial Musique, the Electro, the Ambient, the experimental one or the Country music or the Funk. The name of the group refers to the kissing and cuddling ( to embrace and cherish French ), which, according to David Thrussell, the Marxist concept of the destruction of the barriers symbolizes enter people (see the words of Light, Yet refreshing ).

History

Their first album, Dregs Inc , leaves in 1992. Pieter Bourke joined the group little time after and the album Dear Valued Customer, with a strong influence of the Techno, is recorded in 1994. It is this year there that two parallel projects are created: Summoned, which gathers David Thrussell and Pieter Bourke, and Black Lung, the solo project of David Thrussell.

Since 1997, the group becomes more and more a simple solo project for David, who will be satisfied to invite per moment some musicians to play with him. The album Buy Me… I' L Changes Your Life is a rupture with the original style of Snog, because it is introduced there guitar with the style Country and a resumption of Lee Hazlewood' S: Let The Little Flowers Grow .

In 1999, Third Mall From The Sun offers a first impression of the two albums according to, with the introduction of new influences into the compositions. An album of given, Relax Into The Abyss will follow.

In 2003, it is Beyond the Valley off the Proles which is recorded. This album offers a version pointing out the style of Buy Me…. Will follow then several albums and EP left in 2006 (Snog Vs. The Fecal Juggernaut Of Farmhouse Culture, Crash Crash landing) which ammorcent a return to an electronic music much more .

The major characteristic of Snog are the words written by David Thrussell. Many titles have as a subject the anti Capitalisme, the anti Fascisme, the criticism of the Consumer society, Big Brother… Thrussell also included there references to the theories of the Conspiracy S in the words or the titles of songs of Snog (for example: Rex 84).

Certain small pockets of album of Snog contain paintings of the Canadian artist Chris Woods, which painted between-other, of the advertizing posters for the multinationals McDonald's, Gap, Inc. and Nike.
