Smog

The smog is a Brume bluish with reddish coming from a mixture of pollutant S atmospheric which limits the Visibilité in the atmosphere. It is especially made up of fine particles and Ozone. The smog is associated for several harmful purposes for health and the environment.

Etymology

The smog term is a Mot-valise formed starting from the English words smoke (Fumée) and fog (Brouillard). This Néologisme was invented by Harold Of the Old men in 1905 to describe the mixture of fog and smoke which overpowered London periodically and the other big cities of Europe.

Presentation

The smog is the result of the condensation of water (the fog ) on suspended dust and presence of ozone in the Troposphère. Smoke is produced mainly by the combustion of fossile fuel and is made up of sulfur dioxide (as the Sulfur dioxide) in addition to dust on which the steam contained in the fog condenses.

Photochemical Smog

In the case of ozone, it is rather about a reaction implying the rays of the Sun, the heat and of the pollutants: the oxides of nitrogen and made up organics volatile. One names this smog the smog Photochimique or smog of Los Angeles .

One should not confuse the ozone of the troposphere which produces this smog with that of the Stratosphère which protects us from the rays Ultraviolet S of the sun.
