Small block
A small block , term of Frame, is said of a piece of wood placed horizontally and forming a strut with the foot of a principal rafter.
Also says itself for a small piece of wood being used to carry out the rigidity of a wood assembly. For example, finish square being used to receive the plinths and being placed at the foot of the frames of doors.
In railway terminology, a small block corresponds to a concrete part being used to connect the two files of rail. When this part is out of wood, it is called a crosses .
