Small Symphony of Charles Gounod
The Petite Symphony is a work of Charles Gounod written for instruments wind (one or two Flûte S, two Hautbois, two Clarinette S, two horns and two Basson S) in 1885.
Gounod wrote two Symphonie S for traditional orchestra more than 30 years before, of which only first passed to the posterity.
It is dedicated to the flutist Paul Taffanel who founded a whole of chamber music for winds in 1879.
It comprises four movements and its execution takes approximately 20 minutes.
