Sly Raccoon

Sly Raccoon ( Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus in Original version or VO) is a Video game of platform developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2002 on PlayStation 2. It constitutes the first shutter of the series Sly , whose hero is a Raccoon, Voleur highly skilled called “Sly Cooper”.

Scenario

Sly Cooper is the downward one of a long line of Masters robbers of which all the members had consigned their knowledge in an old book named “Volus Ratonus”. In this family, a tradition wants that all the male and female heirs to the Cooper clan receive Volus Ratonus in heritage the evening of their eighth birthday. Alas! When the turn came from Sly, five visitors stopped the ceremony. The parents of Sly hid their son in the wall cupboard and tried to defend themselves. But the disturbers which were made call “the Five Maléfiques” took the top, and the gang leader killed the parents of Sly under the eyes of this one. After having found where Volus Ratonus was hidden, they tore the book in five parts, kept each one one, and disappeared from it then.

Sad and solitary, Sly was placed in a Orphelinat. There, it became acquainted with two other orphans. The first was a expert Tortue in named Informatique “Bentley”, and the second was a Hippopotame which answered in the name of “Murray”. As of their first meeting, they sympathized mutually and became as inseparable as the three musketeers. When Sly had told them its history, they swore together to track the Five Maléfiques, to avenge the parents for Sly, and to recover all the pages of Volus Ratonus.

When, arrived at the 18 years age they could finally leave the orphanage, they started by this returning to Paris, where Sly concealed a secret file with the inspector Carmelita Fox. After having put the hand on this file, the three friends undertook a long tour around the world which led them to the victory.

Reception

Sly Raccoon very well was generally perceived by the public, the specialized press and the profession. Sucker Punch Productions was in particular distinguished by the International Range Developers Association and the Academy off Interactive Arts and Sciences, by receiving the prices of the “original character of the year”, best “the the animation”, and of best “the artistic director”.
