Slip-to deposit
The slip-to deposit (of English drag-and-drop , also called click-to slip ) is in a graphic Environnement a method consisting in using a Dispositif of pointing (generally a mouse) to move of a place to a another graphic element present on the screen of a Ordinateur.
Operation
With this intention, it is necessary to click on a graphic element of the principal button of the mouse (it left in mode Droitier or the single button), to maintain this button inserted, and to slacken it only when the pointer reached its target.The most traditional example consists in slipping a icon placed on the screen to deposit it on the icon representing a basket with paper, and thus to remove the file which one has just moved. It is also possible to print a file by depositing it on an icon of printer, to transfer a file from one place to the other of a local or distant disc by depositing its icon towards the repertory of destination.
It is also possible to initially move an element of text within a document in the selecting, then by operating one slip-to deposit element selected towards the selected place.
History
This technique was imagined by Xerox PARK, then extended for LISA and Apple Macintosh, in particular for the example of the basket describes higher. Today this method is used by all the graphical interfaces.
