Sinogramme

The sinogrammes , or Chinese characters, are the characters of the logographic writing Chinese E.

Historical definition of the term

The term was invented by the pr. Delphine Weulersse and Nicolas Lyssenko, of the Université of Paris {{VII}}, starting from the roots “sino-” (relating to China) and “- gram” (relating to the writing).

Contrary to a current generally accepted idea in Occident, the sinogrammes all are not of the Idéogramme S, even less of the Hiéroglyphe S or the drawings.

“Sinogramme” corresponds to Chinese 漢字/汉字 hànzì (to pronounce //), “characters of writing of Hàn”.

The tradition wants that the Chinese characters were invented by 倉頡/仓颉 Cang Jie (~2650). Its compositions were founded on the observation of nature, this is why it was said that it had two pairs of eyes. But it is most probably about a legend. Another tradition makes go up the invention of the characters with 伏羲 Fuxi, legendary the first emperor.
