Singing bowl

The bowls singing are primarily in the Himalayan kingdoms (Nepal, Bhutan, Ladakh…) and the north of India. They are used in various ceremonies of offerings, and ceremonies of prayer and Méditation by the monks or the practitioners. They result from chamanic practices, and find their origin in the tops of the skull used to call the spirits.

These bowls are manufactured of bronze or copper.

The tradition Tibetan wants that an alloy of 7 different metals is employed, each metal referring to one of the 7 will chakras, which gives them, says one, of the therapeutic virtues.

The traditional bowls were built starting from a plate of alloy, and were worked with the hammer.

The modern bowls that one finds in China or in India more industrial, and are turned to the machine.

The use of a bowl is made several manners: - By striking it using a mallet of felt, wood or other matters, like a gong; - While slowly turning a mailloche, stick out of wooden, sometimes covered with leather or rubber, on the edge external or interior of the bowl.

This movement created a wave which makes vibrate the bowl which emits harmonious sounds.
