Simone Berriau

Simone Berriau (Drums, Apple-brandy, July 21st 1896 - Paris, February 26th 1984) is a French actress of cinema and theater, born Simone Bossis.

Simone Berriau was very famous in the Thirties and Forties, turning about fifteen films with the best realizers of the moment, especially max Ophuls which gave him its two better roles in Divine (1935) and To tighten enemy (1936).

Post-war period, it directed, with Paris, the Theater Antoine, became today the Théâtre Antoine-Simone Berriau in his honor. It is there, and thanks to it, that the dramatic work of Jean-Paul Sartre was presented to the public.

Simone Berriau had a very rich love life. Married twice, it was also the partner of the scenario writer Yves Mirande and Maurice Guenot, until his death in Paris. It counted among her friends Colette and Cécile Sorel.
