Sillans
Sillans is a common French, located in the department of the Isere and the area the Rhone-Alps.
Geography
The commune is located in the plain da the Beaver at approximately 30 km at the western north of Grenoble.The climate is moderate-cold with the wind of current without obstacles, and wet North with the winds of west.
The large forests were replaced by agriculture during the various centuries.
The South of the village is crossed by the river " Ravageuse" who crosses the marshes then the meadows. The North of the village primarily consists of arable lands.
History
Formerly covered by the forests, Sillans as well as the plain of the Beaver was the hunting ground of predilection of the French nobility.Then during the the Middle Ages and until the French revolution, various seigniories disputed the arable lands of Sillans .
Economy
The locality knew these hours of glory in the Sixties and Seventies with the Dynamic factories (skis) and the Trapper (shoes).The crisis in the textiles, the developments in the new technologies and the change of the economy in the Eighties caused the successive departures of these companies.
Currently, agriculture, a factory of plastic industry, craftsmen and tradesmen constitute the essence of the local economy.
