Shuttle (transport)
In the field of transport, a shuttle is a service of transport ensuring a regular connection between two brought closer points.
By Métonymie, the term indicates also the vehicles making this type of short and repetitive ways, for example between the Center-ville and the Aéroport. By extension, the people who carry out daily and at fixed hours the same way of their residence of suburbs to their work place downtown (pendular migration), are called navetteurs.
NB: The shuttle service of Eurotunnel transporting road vehicles (automobile, heavy trucks, coaches) between the two ends of the tunnel under the Manche was baptized “the Shuttle”. (Shuttle meaning “English shuttle”).
