Shikoku is one of the four large islands of the Japan.
In Japanese, Shikoku (四国) is made up of two Kanji S . The first - shi (四) - wants to say " quatre" and the second - koku (国) - wants to say " pays". This name comes owing to the fact that the island is divided into four provinces (Awa, Tosa, Sanuki and Iyo). These provinces became prefectures today.

Surface of the island east of 18.787 km ². Its population is estimated at 4,5 million inhabitants. The culminating point of the island is the Ishizuchi mount in the prefecture of Ehime.

The shikoku is a Race of Chien, still called dog of Kōchi, name of the prefecture of Kōchi from where it is originating.
