Sherry of Frontera
Jerez of Frontera is a Spanish city located at the south of the Andalusia, in the Province of Cadiz. The city was formerly known under the name of Jerez .
The city counted 191.002 inhabitants in January 2003, which makes of it the fifth town of Andalusia. It is one of the vastest communes of Spain. It is one of the capitals of the Flamenco with Seville and Cadiz.
It is located in the plain of the estuary of the Guadalquivir famous for the vine and the equine breeding. To 10 km in the north of the city the southernmost international airport of Europe is.
History
The suffix of the Frontera is shared with many other communes of the south of the Andalusia and refers at the historical border with the Moslem kingdom Al-Andalus , i.e. the border between the worlds Christian and Moslem.The city was reconquered by the king Alphonse X in 1264.
Economy
The city is known for its vineyard. It is here that is done the famous sherry or sherry, very snuffed Britanniques.
Sport
The Andalusian royal school of equestrian art was founded in Jerez in 1975 per Don Alvaro Domecq.
