Sherif
A sherif or sharîf (rear šarīf RTL شريف pl. rear šurafā' RTL شرفاء, or rear ašrāf RTL أشراف, noble; sizeable; going down from the prophet ) is downward of the prophet Mahomet by one of its two grandsons, Al Hassan Ben Ali and Al Husayn Ben Ali.
Plural achrâf indicates the noble Arab, i.e. the families Omeyyades, Abbassides and Alides.
The sherifs of the Morocco are called chorfas , they are at the origin of the dynasties Idrissides, Alaouides and Saadiennes. Morocco was called Empire Of the sherifs until independence.
In Iran, the Mollah S which are also chorfas carry a black turban, whereas the others have right only to one white turban. In Iran the chorfas carry the title of seyyed (seyyed RTL F سيد, going down from the prophet; lord ).
