The shako ( schako or eunuch flute ) is a military Cover-chief, in the shape of cone truncated with a visor; it in hairs and was often decorated with a feather, a pompom or a Galon.
It is the Cover-chief which replaces the Bicorne at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century in the officers of the armies. It is the Prussian army which was the first to carry it, it had then the name of shako Hungarian . It will be gradually replaced by the Képi in the Années 1860.
