Shaiva Siddhanta

The school Shaiva Siddhanta (the goal of Shaiva) indicates the Shivaïsme south of the India.

History

The crowned sources of this school are the Agamas and the Purana Shiva ïstes, but the direct precursors are consisted a group of 63 saints of language Tamoul E, the Nayanar , which go back to the VIe century. Author of anthems dedicated to Shiva, it comprises several theologists of qualities:
  • Tirumular (6th century?), author of the Tirumandiram .

  • Manikkavacagar (7th century), author of the Tiruvacayam and the Tirukkoveiyar .
  • Sundar (9th century), author of anthems joined together in the Tevaram .

Later, their ideas were systematized in language tamoule by:

  • Meykandadevar (13th century), author of the Shivananaboda . This text, for which it is necessary to add the Shaiva Siddhanta Shastra form, with others, a whole of 14 Basic Treaties of the school.
