Shōkō

The emperor Shōkō (称光天皇, Shōkō Tennō , May 12th 1401 - August 30th 1428) was the 101e emperor Japan, according to the traditional order of the succession, and reigned of the October 5th 1412 with his death.

Its name of reign was forged by taking the first Kanji of the names of the imperial 48e and 49e leader, the Shōtoku empress (称徳) and the emperor Kōnin (光仁).

Genealogy

Its personal name was Mihito (initially written 躬仁, then 実仁). Shōkō was the oldest son of its predecessor the emperor Go-Komatsu. His/her mother was Hinonishi Motoko (日野西資子), girl of Hino Sukekuni (日野資国). It was related on Yoshimitsu Ashikaga and the Hino family on the side of her mother.

Biography

Shōkō reaches the throne the October 5th 1412, following the abdication of his/her father, who continues to reign as a emperor withdrawn. Its crowning takes place the 19th day of the 12th month of 1414.

Shōkō not having children due to disease, Go-Komatsu chooses to him for successor a cousin, the future emperor Go-Hanazono, back grandson of the applicant of the Court of the North Sukō, which goes up on the throne to dead of Shōkō.
