Set the Controls for the Heart off the Sun
Set the Controls for the Heart off the Sun is a song of the group of Rock Pink Floyd which appears on their second album, has off Saucerful Secret (1968). She is written by Roger Waters, starting from a collection of Chinese poetries of the Dynastie Tang.
The group interpreted it in concert as of 1967, and until in 1973. She appears in the disc live of the double album Ummagumma , like in the film Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii and on various Bootleg S. Roger Waters will take it again later at the time of its rounds in solo, in a version completely re-examined on the plan of arrangements, guitar and saxophone in particular.
Set the Controls for the Heart off the Sun (“Mets the course on the heart of the sun”) breaks up in a traditional way according to the formula “two verses, instrumental, third and last verse”. The melody of the verses, simple and linear, is very orientalizing. The instrumental exchange, as for him, is divided into two parts: crescendo where the organ, practically only at the beginning, is let little by little submerge by the guitar, until a sound explosion which leads to a simple line of breaker props which marks the beginning of the second part. In fact then vibratos of organ and glissendis of guitar create a space environment, joined by the low one and sometimes by the battery, before returning to the topic with last verse which disappears in ultimate slips of organ.
