Serguiev Possad

Commune of the Federation of Russia, to 71 km in the north of Moscow, the town of Serguiev Possad (in the past Zagorsk ) is especially known for its orthodoxe Monastère ('' laure of the Trinity-Saint-Serge ''), and for this reason belonged to the Anneau of gold consisted several princely cities, located around the Russian capital and containing superb architectural units.

This monastery is regarded as the heart of Russian orthodoxy, because it was founded at the 14th century century by Saint Serge de Radonège, patron saint of Russia. At the 15th century, the place acquires truly its statute of Laure, then at the 16th century Ivan the Terrible equips it with an imposing unit with buildings and churches.

The city has a Museum of the toy, which exposes several thousands of Russian and foreign traditional parts.

The city and the monastery are accessible in the suburban train ( elektrichki ) from Moscow (approximately an hour of way from the station of Yaroslav).
