Serge Dalens , Pen name of Yves de Verdilhac , born the October 3rd 1910 with Albertville in Savoy and dead the January 9th 1998, is a writer French. Magistrate of profession, it is especially known for its many novels, for the majority intended for youth.
It becomes acquainted with Pierre Joubert in 1932, whereas this one made its military service in the regiment which order colonel de Verdilhac. They work out together the scenario of the Bracelet of vermeil . Its book is published by the editions Alsatia in 1937. Young magistrate with Dieppe, it regularly visits the hospital to meet sick doctors and young people there. He will draw the inspiration from it from the Contes of the torturer . This year there, it meets Jean-Louis Foncine via Pierre Joubert and of the Alsatia editions.
With the release of the war, it is mobilized as second lieutenant. It obtains the Military Cross and the military Cross of Value. Demobilized at the end of 1940, the Ministry for Justice detaches it with the Ministry for Youth. He is operations manager for irregular Childhood and the Delinquency: the robbers will take as a starting point this experiment. During this period, Yves binds friendship with a teacher named Robert Jospin and it benefits from its function to make start from many young people to the Service obligatory work only on paper.
It continues to write, publishes the Death of Eric in 1943 and warns its young reader in a foreword:
It does not act more than one novel but well of an account. The fiction is erased in front of reality. The history is only one gilded wire, raising the indifferent tapestry of the facts. The book finishes badly. The Prince is not avenged, the reader is not comforted. The “large people” will be probably dissatisfied, because these pages are sad, sad as the war which they lost. Undoubtedly will claim that this book “is not for the children”. However, I think, me, that a boy of fifteen, sixteen, seventeen years, is a boy. I.e. a man. I think that there is no reason to differently treat it with peace than with the war. To differently treat it in its house than in these days of 40 where it ran in the fields. To hide the truth to him.
In 1945, it finds its functions with the ministry for Justice and settles in Paris. It continues its career of magistrate, substitute of the prosecutor to the court of Compiegne in Oise during long years, It will finish first substitute of the public prosecutor to Nanterre in 1983. It becomes responsible for the collection Signe of Track with Jean-Louis Foncine in 1954. It will remain it in all the publishers which took again this collection.
Catholic of tendency rather traditionalist and monarchist, he was also president of the Disciplinary commission and secretary of the Commission Justice and Safety of the National front during the years 1990.
Its novels exaltent the traditional values of the knighthood like courage, fidelity, the honor, the friendship or the combat for justice. Perfectionist, according to the dires of his/her friend Foncine, his novels are anchored in a firmly built context, whether it is historical or social. The Scoutisme occupies a great place in its work. In its novels, it used its experiment of magistrate much being interested in the juvenile delinquency ( the robbers ), in the ravages of the drugs ( White the ) or in the court system ( Investigations of the tiger-cat ).
