Sened
Sened is a city Tunisia located at 50 kilometers in the east of Gafsa. It divides between two sites, one with the foot of Djebel Majoura (874 m) and the other where was built a Gare on the railway axis Gafsa - Sfax (line intended for the transport of the Phosphate).
Attached to the Governorship of Gafsa, it constitutes a municipality: 8931 inhabitants and is being the Chef-lieu of a delegation of: 34504 inhabitants including/understanding the sectors of Sened, Sanouche, Djedida, Abdessadok, Majoura and Alim.
Sened is one of the rare places of Tunisia where one speaks a Dialecte Berbère which borrowed the name of the city besides to indicate it.
Primarily agricultural, the resources of Sened is also drawn from a craft industry of weaving of Tapis as well as its vocation of administrative center.
The mountains in the neighborhoods of Sened, in fact Djebel Ourbat and Djebel Majoura, were the theater of several engagements opposing Tunisian military resistance and the French forces lasting the period of the protectorate.
