Semaphore of Toulinguet
the semaphore of Toulinguet is located at the end of the Presqu'île of Crozon, on the Point of Toulinguet which is located on the commune of Camaret-on-Sea in Brittany. It is built on an army ground of the National marine, fortifications built in 1884 control the access of them. In the immediate vicinity is the Phare of Toulinguet.
History
The first mast with signals of Camaret-on-Sea was installed under Napoleon {{Ier}} on the Pointe of Penhir, it will quickly become a semaphore. A second semaphore will be installed on the heights of Camaret-on-Sea, with a good vision on the traffic portuaire.Ces two buildings will be almost completely destroyed at the time of the Second world war. The Staff of the Navy decides then, after two years of hesitation to choose the site, to build the new building beside the headlight on the Point of Toulinguet. The building site will start in 1949 and work will last 3 years. The technique selected is the reinforced concrete and to make it tons of rollers located below the cliffs will have gone up. During this difficult work, a workman is deceased.
Structure
The reinforced concrete building has the shape out of U, the roofs are of the type terrace and the tower of day before rises 12 m more haut.Le balcony of the tower was glazed in 1973, at the time of the rehabilitation of the room of day before.
Operation
This semaphore is armed in second category, it thus ensures the rising day before laying down sun. It is in particular charged to supervise the fishermen, the yachtmen and the entry of the Goulet of Brest attended by many ships.
