Seignanx is centered on the croups overhanging the old marshes of Orx, drained in 1864. It was initially consisted of the localities of Boucau, Tarnos, Ondres, Saint-Martin-with-Seignanx, and Saint-Andre-with-Seignanx.

etymology
The name of Seignanx consists of a radical *seign meaning “marsh” and of rental suffix. This country was out of water but faced the old delta of Adour and in the marshes of Orx which it contributed to feed.
