The second district of Mayenne is delimited by the electoral Découpage of the law n°86-1197 of the November 24th 1986 , it gathers the following administrative divisions:
- Canton of Bierné
- Canton of Castle-Gontier-Is
- Canton of Castle-Gontier-West
- Canton of Thimble-the-Vivien
- Canton of Craon
- Canton of Grez-in-Bouère
- Canton of Loiron
- Canton of Meslay-of-Maine
- Canton of Saint-Aignan-on-Roë
- Canton of Holy-Suzanne.
According to the general Census of the population in 1999, carried out by the National institute of the Statistics and Economic studies (INSEE), the total population of this district is estimated at 84103 habitants, .
