Season LNH 2007-2008

The season 2007 - 08 is the 90e season of the history of the National league of hockey (LNH). It will be held until the beginning of the month of April 2008, date of the beginning of the eliminatory Séries which will finish at the beginning of the month of June 2008. The 56 {{E}} match of the Stars will take place the Week-end 26 with the January 27th 2008 on the skating rink of the Thrashers of Atlanta, the Philips Arena.

The regular season

Important evolutions and dates

Again uniform of the company Reebok will be used from this season and for the occasion seven teams changed their colors and/or their logos (Boston, Tampa Bay, Vancouver, Washington, Ottawa, San Jose and Columbus).

In order to promote the LNH, the season began on September 29th by a series from two matches disputed with London in England and named in NHL First London' 07 . The match opposed the champions titrates of it, the Ducks d' Anaheim, and the Kings of Los Angeles, the latter being the property of the group Anschutz Entertainment Group, also owner of the skating rink The O2 where the meeting takes place. The first meeting was balanced on the score of four goals with for Kings whereas Ducks took their revenge on the same score the following day. The two matches were played closed counters in front of a crowd of: 17300 people, Mike Cammalleri of Kings registering the first goal of the season of the LNH.

September 17th, the advertisement was made by the LNH that a match will be played in outside on January 1st, 2008. This meeting will take place between the Penguins de Pittsburgh and the Sabers of Buffalo on the ground of the Bills, frankness from American football of the in [[National League Football]] the Ralph Wilson Stadium. Since 1981, the Devils of the New Jersey evolved/moved in the skating rink of the in [[Continental Airlines Arena]] but the future of this one seemed compromised with the advertisement of a new project instead of the skating rink, Meadowlands Xanadu. Since the project establishment changed but the building work of a new skating rink had already been launched since October 2005. Thus, on October 20th, 2007 the room of the Prudential Center opened its doors for a series in concerts and the 27 of the same month, Devils inaugurated their new skating rink vis-a-vis the Senators d' Ottawa. In front of: 17625 people, Andrej Meszároš of the Senators registered the first goal of the team for a victory 4 to 1 and Brian Gionta answered him. At the time of the second home match against the Lightning de Tampa Bay, Devils took a lead in the score of 6 goals on 1 with a Tour of the hat of Jay Pandolfo, the first of its career. The skating rink not being ready in time for the beginning of the season, Devils connected a series of nine matches outside, with five defeats.

Starting from November 13rd, the fans will be able to vote to elect the twelve players beginning the 56 {{E}} match from the Stars. November 7th, the list of the players potentially being able to be selected is communicated by the LNH.

Withdrawn numbers

Within the framework of the 100 years of the organization, the Canadian of Montreal will withdraw two numbers during the season. Thus, number 19 of Larry Robinson will be withdrawn on November 19th in a part against the Senators d' Ottawa and the 23 of Bob Gainey, on February 23rd, at the time of a match against the Blue Jackets de Columbus.

  • on November 7th, Mike Modano of the Stars of Dallas beats the record of Phil Housley for the greatest number of points registered by an hockey player born with the the United States, it registers sound then: 1233e not.
  • on November 10th Jeremy Roenick of the Coyotes of Phoenix registers its 500e goal of career becoming the 40e player of the history of the LNH to exceed the symbolic mark of the 500 goals. He is only third American to carry out such a performance.
  • on November 17th Martin Brodeur carries out her 500e victory as a goalkeeper. He is the second goalkeeper to exceed the bar of the 500 victories, approaching Patrick Roy which took its retirement with 552 victories in regular season.
