Savonranta

Savonranta is a municipality is Finland, in the area of Savonie of the South and the province of Eastern Finland.

Savonranta is one of the most wild communes of the area of the lakes. Water recovers 32% of the territory da the municipality, the forest being omnipresent elsewhere. The lakes with very pure water communicate between them by an incredible network of channels. They constitute the habitat of one of the rarest species of Mammifère of planet, the Phoque ringed of the Saimaa, one of the three subspecies of fresh water seal, of which it remains in only 280 specimens in Finland. Their privileged habitat is the national park of Kolovesi, of which a small portion is on the territory of Savonranta.

The big lake Orivesi extends to the east, separating Savonie and Karelia.

The inhabitants far from many, and for the majority are concentrated in the small administrative center. The village is located not far from the first establishment known in the commune, the fortress of Orivirta, small strengthened camp which knew its golden age at the 16th century and of which remain today only of modest vestiges.

The common neighbors are Kerimäki in the south, Enonkoski in the west, Heinävesi in the North-West, like side Karelia of North Liperi in north, and the lake Orivesi Rääkkylä and Kitee in the east.
