Sausheim

Sausheim is a common French located in the northern suburbs of Mulhouse. It belongs to the department Haut-Rhin and area Alsace.

Its inhabitants is called the Sausheimois and the Sausheimoises .

Geography

At crossed highways A35 and A36 (cross of Harth, in the middle of the communal territory), the town of Sausheim is located at less than eight kilometers of the center of Mulhouse. Its round of applause is crossed by the Ill, Quatelbach and the Canal of the Rhone in the Rhine.

Sausheim is located in the middle of the Île Napoleon , site shared between the towns of Sausheim, Illzach and Rixheim.

The forest of Hardt, 2nd forest of Alsace, east covers 4,64 km ² surface of Sausheim. This forest is crossed by the A35 and the A36, as well as the CD55 and CD39.

The city is made up of four great zones:

  • the center town (Old Sausheim)

  • the districts North (Birds, Muses, Flowers, Orchards, Hardt)
  • the Southern districts (Napoleon Park, Poets, Southern Districts, City of Ears, Suburbs 89, Southern Industrial Park)

History

The town of Sausheim crossed several wars without having to suffer from too important damage except those due to the Second world war.

Sausheim, Austrian city, remained catholic at the time of the reform. During the thirty year old war, Sausheim was saved by the military great events, but knew quarterings like that of the imperial troops in 1620 and the Swedes (1632 - 1634). In 1648, Sausheim passed to the crown of France.

The 19th century is primarily marked by industrial development with the construction of the factory “Dollfus Noack” in 1843. Sausheim suffered little from the war 1914-1918. The city was touched much hard by the Second world war. It was destroyed to 75% and was released on February 6th, 1945.

Sausheim could count on the communes of Cusset and Plounéour-Trez for their invaluable helps.

In 1948, the commune is quoted with the order of the regiment with attribution of the Military Cross with bronze star.

The life continued its course and in 1952 the commune had 1600 hearts. In 1959, it passed to 2199, to arrive at 5000 in 1980, and counts approximately 6200 inhabitants today.

Economy

Sausheim makes first industrial great strides with the factories “Dollfus-Noack”. In 1889 one inaugurates a first workshop of 5000m ² which was the first company French of technical textiles . Some year after a of the same workshop size was built. Offices of a surface of 1000m ² are built in 1911. The factory employs 300 workmen, and 75 frameworks. The factory definitively closes its doors in 1994 after 105 years of production. Another factory played a crucial role in the commune. It is Zuber-Rieder & Co which builds the factory of the Island Napoleon, the factory of the Pines, at the edge of banks of the channel of the Rhone in the Rhine street of the hardt. At the 20th century it is PSA Peugeot Citroen which contributes to the change of the population of the city. Sausheim thus accommodates the first company of Alsace with more than 12.000 paid.

In addition to the giant of the car, she admitted on her territory the Road Center Autoport South-Alsace and Douanier and created in 1995, Zone ESPALE EUROPE, the ZI Sud, as well as the ZA Pôle 201 where were established companies of all the sizes, craft industry with the largest employers of Alsace. She accommodates also part of the Carrefour shopping mall of the Île Napoleon . Sausheim also has a whole range of hotels, approximately 1/4 of the hotels of the Mulhousian area with more than 500 rooms: IBIS, MERCURY, NOVOTEL, ARCOTEL, the SUN KING, RESTORING HOTEL OF the POST OFFICE, the GARDEN Of ESPALE.

Currently more than 400 companies of all kinds are indexed on the city.

Sausheim offers to its inhabitants and its visitors of multiple pretexts to slacken: circuit of walk in forest of Hardt, with the public garden of the library, along the banks of Ill and the channel of the mill (Quatelbach), sporting course, hill of plays, skate park… .
