Thufir Hawat is a character of fiction of the cycle of Dune, of Frank Herbert.

At the beginning of the Cycle of Dune, it is with the service of the Maison Atréides which it already serves since three generations. It occupies the functions of Mentat (or human computer), of assassin and advising of the Duke Leto Atréides. Honest and faithful, it fears nevertheless Jessica Atréides. Calculator and intelligent, it can never cease analyzing the data which are subjected to him. Hawat thus advises with the Baron to make pass the crafty one Feyd-Rautha like providential saver for the inhabitants of Arrakis. Thufir Hawat ends up dying in the arms of Paul Muad' Dib once the battle of Arrakeen gained, and a few moments before the combat against Feyd-Rautha.
