In the Finnish Mythology, the sampo is a magic object which ensures fortune its owner.
Nobody knows exactly which type of object is the sampo. Also, interpretations are numerous. It for example was described like a compass or a Astrolabe. In the Kalevala , Lönnrot presents it like a kind of Moulin able to manufacture Farine, salt and Or starting from the fresh air. The poet Paavo Haavikko suggests as for him that it is about a Trésor flown by the Viking S with Constantinople. Others compared it with the Machine of Anticythère when this one was discovered.
At all events, the sampo is omnipresent in the Finnish Culture.
