Saltasaurus
The Saltasaurus , the “lizard of the Salta” (Argentinian), is a Dinosaure pertaining to Saurischiens, Sauropodes, and Titanosauridés. It measured approximately 12m length and could weigh up to 25 tons. The principal bones Fossile S of this herbivore Quadrupède were discovered in the remote area of Salta, in Argentina and allow us to say that he lived with the higher Crétacé, approximately 70 million years ago.
The animal was not a very large sauropode (the Brachiosaurus could measure until 23 m and to weigh nearly 50 tons). It was a very rare sauropode. It had, moreover, a series of osseous protuberances on the back, like an armor, a characteristic which one finds at few of other species of sauropodes. These protuberances measured on average, approximately 20 cm length.
Saltasaurus , like the others titanosauridés, could not be drawn up on its posterior legs to reach the top of the trees, contrary to the Diplodocus. It succeeded anyway, according to the estimates made starting from the skeleton, with raising its neck to 6 m height, which is not negligible. ----
