Salouël is a common French, located in the department of the Somme and the area Picardy.

With the the Middle Ages and even front, one cultivated the vine in Picardy, and in the area in particular, as in Salouël the piece of the soil attests it named " the Labels ".
In 1342, was in function a mill on the Selle river, mill to press cloths and pertaining to the Rabuisson family, of Amiens. The large field of " foulons" was located on the top of the slope, now called " the Vents ".
Formerly, Salouël belonged to the common parish then of Saleux. Separation was carried out by imperial decree dated December 11th, 1864.
Its cantonal assignment changed since 1790: initially integrated into the canton of Bovelles, then with that of Healthy, it concerns since 1879 the canton Boves.
Salouël, commune very close and in south-west to Amiens, had only one exclusively rural activity during its history. The river with the regular flow and the proximity of the big city contributed, undoubtedly since the Middle Ages, with the development of the craft industry and of small workshops. After the Second world war, and in particular since the years the 1965-1970 transformation is more brutal by the successive establishment of the Campus (residence hall of the Bailly , Faculté of Letters and Right, College library, IUT) and of the Southern Hôpital , energy of par with an increase in population related to the suburban development.
