Sabbatéens
Sabbatéens are the disciples of the Juif Messiah car-proclaimed Sabbataï Tsevi, born in the Ottoman Empire, which converts with the Islam into 1666.
Followers of the Cabal and the Zohar, which affirm the existence of a law (or at least of an interpretation of the law) hidden and secret, Sabbatéens interpreted the conversion of their chief like a command to practice a hidden and secret religion. Their conversion with Islam or Christianity voluntary, was thus nourished by a particular mystical interpretation.
The Sabbatéen term is almost used today as synonym of Dönme , the only still active Sabbatéen group, alive in Turkey.
In practice however, there were other Sabbatéens groups, now disappeared, like the Polish frankists, disciples of Jacob Franck. This one, formed by the Dönme Turkish, did not develop certain specificities of them, like conversion with the Catholicisme instead of conversion with the Islam.
