Sénart

Sénart is a new Ville French of the south of the Île-de-France, with horse on the departments of Seine-et-Marne and of the the Essonne. It draws its name from the Forêt of Sénart and was called previously Melun-Sénart .

Population

Of an total surface area of 12  560 hectares, Sénart counted 98  447 inhabitants in 1999; a complementary census in 2003, carried out in 10 of the 12 communes, makes it possible to estimate the population at close to 108  000 this year, is a density of almost 860 hab. /km ², still weak compared to other new cities of the area, although the population was already multiplied by five since the beginning of installations.

History

  • 1965 : one decides to create new cities around Paris to control the growth of the agglomeration.

The development of the first Town planning and Master development plan (SDAU) was entrusted to Paul Delouvrier, acting general with the District of the Area of Paris of 1961 to 1969, which was for this reason regarded as the father of the new cities.

In the south-east of Paris, one retains the site of Lieusaint - Tigery, between Melun and Corbeil-Essonnes

The shopping mall

Carré Sénart is located in the middle of the new Ville of which it must become the center. Of a surface of 65.000 m ², it was conceived by the architect Jean-Paul Viguier. Conceived by taking account of the stakes of sustainable development, the shopping mall of Square-Sénart lays out of a wind visible since the highway to feed its system of air-conditioning. The access to the shopping mall is carried out by the Autoroute S and.

Signs

The shopping mall is managed by Espace Expansion, of the group Unibail. Carré Sénart includes/understands large a Hypermarché Carrefour and 130 shops, average surfaces and restaurants, as well as a Multiplexe of 16 rooms. It is in this shopping mall that the first restaurant Yo was open! Sushi of France.

Aquarium

An aquarium of 30.000 m 2 is in project on the site of the Sénart Square.
