Run-out

In fruit-bearing Arboriculture and Vine growing, the run-out is the fall of the flowers or the young fruits.

Causes

The run-out can be due to:
  • of bad climatic conditions before and during the flowering which deteriorate the Pollen, which prevents the Fécondation flowers and thus the setting with fruits. The weather of the previous year, at the time of the floral Induction, also has an influence.

  • a size premature or too important.

  • a too fertile ground or a too important contribution of Manure.

Sensitive type of vines

Some Type of vine S such as Grenache, Côt, Ortega or Merlot are more sensitive than others to the run-out.

Treatment

The usual remedies are the provision of the assimilable boron plant , either by way racinaire, or by foliar way (in this last case, immediately before flowering).
