The Royal Philatelic Society London ( RPSL , “royal philatelic company of London”) is a philatelic association British founded in 1869. Its goal is to promote and contribute to the development of the philatelic studies.

History and activities

Created under the name of Philatelic Society, London ( PSL ), it is related to the royal family by two princes collectors. In 1890, Alfred, duke of Edinburgh are named honorary president of the company in 1890. In March 1893, its nephew George, duke of York is elected honorary vice-president with life before becoming about it executive president of 1896 to 1910, date of its advent under the name of George V.

Since the advent of George V, each British sovereign sponsors the RPSL which can use their armorial bearings since 1924 and borrow parts of the royal philatelic Collection to organize or take part in philatelic exposures of prestige.
