Royal Mile
The Royal Mile is the popular name to indicate a succession of streets which forms the principal artery of the old city of Edinburgh.
As its name indicates it, its length is equivalent to a Scottish Mile between the two centers of the royal history of the Scotland, since the Château of Edinburgh at the top of the Castle Rock until the Palais of Holyrood. On this way, the current name of the street is successively Castle Esplanade , Castlehill , Lawnmarket , High Street , Canongate , and finally Abbey Strand .
The Royal Mile is the tourist street of Edinburgh, in competition with Princes Street in the New Town.
