Roger Dean
Roger Dean , born in 1944, is an artist English. He is undoubtedly most known of the artists implied in the illustration of the progressive Rock and this thanks to the logo S and with the small pocket S which he conceived as of 1971 for the group Yes and then for Asia.
The Dessin S of Roger Dean evoke in a way stylized of the landscapes and strange worlds inspired by the fantastic Littérature and the Science-fiction. Its imposing universes with the lights étincelantes often in let us tons blue Cobalt, populated at the time of mythical creatures, were thousand times imitated.
With the Yes group
Chosen by Rolling Stone Magazine among the 50 best small pockets of the century, that of Bruise from Topographic Oceans , of the group Yes, illustrates with wonder the music and the cosmic texts of the album. With its blocks of desert rocks, its magic source, its sunrise, its Maya temple and its Poisson S swimming in an atmosphere azuréenne, it are the prototype of the style of Dean. But the small pockets of Fragile, To relay, Drama, Yesterdays, Keys To Ascension or The Ladder are worth that one well. Images and music never met better and supplemented but on collaborations Yes - Roger Dean so much so that one cannot any more listen to or look at one without thinking of the other.
