Robin

Rouge-gorge is a vernacular Nom given to several birds Passeriformes because of the red color of the plumage of their breast piece. All these species are related only in one remote way. In Europe, Rouge-gorge refers more particularly to Erithacus rubecula , but there exists also a Robin in America ( Turdus migratorius ). The orthography robin (S) is to be preferred with that of rougegorge (S).

Mistakes

Because of their red breast piece, the Finch of the trees, the Bullfinch peony, the Stonechat, mélodieuse Linotte for examples is commonly confused with the robins. Several species are commonly called " red-gorges" in Australasia (of the Petroicidae ) even if they are officially called Miro.
