Robert Plot is a Naturaliste and a British chemist , born the December 13rd 1640 with Borden in the Kent and dead the April 30th 1696 in this same city.

He is the son of Robert Plot and Rebecca born Patenden. He obtains his Bachelor off Arts in Magdalen Hall in Oxford in 1661, his Master off Arts in 1664 and two diplomas of right in 1671. In 1677, he becomes member of the Royal Society, and his secretary in 1682.

It Marie with Rebecca Burnam on August 21st, 1690. He becomes the first conservative of the Natural history museum of Elias Ashmole (1617-1692) in 1683. The same year, he becomes the first chemistry teacher with the university of Oxford.

He becomes, in 1688, the historiographer of the king Jacques II of England (1633-1701).

He is in particular the author of The Natural History off Oxfordshire (1677), Of Origin Fontium tentamen philosophicum… (eight volumes, 1684), The Natural History off Staffordshire (1686).
