Robert Darwin

Dr. Robert Waring Darwin , member of the Royal Society (May 30th, 1766 - November 13rd, 1848) was a doctor establishes with Shrewsbury and today more known as being the father of the famous naturalist Charles Darwin.
Biography
Darwin was born in 1766, wire of Erasmus Darwin and his first wife Mary Howard. Its name was selected in the honor of his/her uncle Robert Waring Darwin off Elston (1724 - 1816), a single person. His/her mother dies in 1770 and Mary Parker, controlling it committed to deal with him becomes the mistress of its father and gives him two illegitimate girls.Darwin studies medicine with the Université of Leyde, and obtains his Doctorat in medicine with the Université of Edinburgh in 1786, whereas it is old only 20 years. In Edinburgh he studies with various professors, and in particular the naturalist John Walker. He withdraws such an experiment from it that he will send then his Charles son to study there.

The April 18th 1796 it Marie with Susannah Wedgwood (1765 - July 1817), girl of the English potter Josiah Wedgwood with St Marylebone in the Middlesex, and they have 6 children together:

- Caroline Sarah Darwin (1800 - 1888) which Marie with her cousin Josiah Wedgwood III (small son of Josiah Wedgwood)

It is promoted Fellow off the Royal Society the February 21st 1788.
Anecdotes
He is opposed initially to his son and this voyage two years on board the Beagle which he regards as a waste of time, but he is finally convinced by his brother-in-law, Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795), and ends up giving his agreement to the participation of his son.
It was a particularly imposing man, of big size, nearly 1,89 meters ( 6 ' 2" ) for 150 kg ( 24 stones ).
