Robert Burdet

Robert Burdet is one one of these many adventurers Normands who sought fortune out of the Norman duchy and who tried to cut a stronghold, mainly in the south of the Occident, in prey with ceaseless wars or the Anarchie.
Originating in the area of Cliff in current the Apple-brandy, it takes share with the wars against the Sarrasins in the north of the Spain in 1118 in Catalogne. It takes Tarragone with the Musulmans, decides to remain in Catalonia and declares “prince de Tarragone” under the recognition of évêché of Barcelona to which it lent homage in 1129 all while being independent of powerful the Comté of Barcelona and while continuing to fight the Moslems. Its sons lost the principality as of the year 1171.
