Rjev

Rjev (in Russian: Ржев) is a town of Russia, on the the Volga. Located in the Oblast de Tver, it is to 49 km in the south-west of Staritsa and to 126 km of Tver, on the highway and the railroad connecting Moscow to Rīga. Second plus big city of the Oblast, Rjev counts 63 729 inhabitants (2002).

Rjev is known for the Batailles of Rjev which were held to with it during the Second world war and which devastated the whole city.
