Rita Montaner
Rita Montaner , born the August 20th 1900 with Guanabacoa and dead the April 17th 1958 with Havana, is a Chanteuse and Actrice Cuba innate.
Girl of doctor, it starts to study the piano as of her 10 years and continues musical studies and puts herself at the song at 16 years. Quickly she sings the Zarzuela, which is appropriate for its voice of Mezzo-soprano, in the theaters of the capital.
She triumphs in the zarzuela Niña Rita over Eliseo Grenet: the song Ay, Mama Iñes becomes one of most famous of the cuban popular music. Then she sings Siboney in another zarzuela of Ernesto Lecuona.
She begins with the cinema in the United States, then collaborates with the pianist Ignacio Villa known as " Bola de Nieve ". She occurs in Europe, France and Spain. In Cuba, she interprets with the piano of the topics of the Love wizard of Manuel of Falla. She takes part in the presentation of the work of the poet Nicolás Guillén, Motivos de Son , that the Grenet brothers put in music
Rita approaches the field of the music Cuban Negro while interpreting in 1935 the Suite négroïde composed by Gilberto Valdés, accompanied by an orchestra including/understanding ritual percussions Cuban Negroes and drums.

It then is called “Única”.
Nicolas Guillén calls it “Rita of Cuba”.
In 1957, reached of a Cancer, it becomes voiceless, and dies the following year.
