Rikdag

Rikdag († 985), known also under the names Ricdag , Riddag , Rihdag or Rygdag , was Margrave of Misnie (or Thuringe) of 979 until its death. In 982, it acquired the steps of Mersebourg and Zeitz. In 985, it was made Count of Schwabengau. It temporarily joined together under its command all the south of the Marca Geronis . Its walk faced the tribes Slaves of the Chutizi ( Chutycy ) and of the Dalaminzi ( Dolomici ).

In 984/985, Heminilde or Oda, the girl of Rikdag, married Boleslas I {{er}} Valiant the (which became later king of Poland), but this one drove out his wife after the death of Rikdag.

In 983, after the defeat of the emperor Othon II in the Cape Colonna, the Slavic tribes bordering is Saxony were raised. Havelberg and Brandenbourg was destroyed, the Marche of Zeitz was devastated. Rikdag, with the margraves of Lusace and of the Walk of North, was linked with the troops of the bishop of Halberstadt and of the Archevêque of Magdeburg to crush the Slavic ones. Nevertheless, the German have to be folded up in the west of the Elba.

In 985, Rikdag and his/her Eilsuit sister founded the monastery of Gerbstedt in which it was buried and of which she became the first Abbesse. Except Heminilde, Rikdag left a son (Charles) and a girl (Gerberge). Charles († April 28th 1014), count de Schwabengau in 992, was wrongfully private of his goods on the basis of charge false. Gerberge († October 30th 1022) was abbess of Quedlinburg.
