Right of remonstrance

The right of remonstrance is the right of the Parlement to call a royal edict in question before the recording if this edict is against the interests of the king or the people.

It is removed in 1673 by Louis XIV and is restored by the Duc of Orleans in 1715, limited again by the Cardinal Dubois and cancelled in 1718 by a Lit of justice of the king Louis XV.
