Rhéa Silvia

The Vestale Rhéa Silvia is the mother of Romulus and Remus.

Grand-daughter of the king Procas and girl of Numitor, Rhéa Silvia is high with the sacerdotal dignity of Vestale in the town of Alba Long the by her uncle Amulius who usurped the throne albain.

The goal of the dedication to Vesta is to deprive it of descent. Tite-Live ( Roman History I-3) affirms besides that, consequently occasion, Amulius kill all the male descendants of his/her brother Numitor.

In spite of its statute of priestess of Vesta which condemned it to a rigorous chastity, it has two twins, the futures Romulus and Remus of its trade with the god Mars.
