Reward for the soldiers deserving in ancient Egypt

For a long time, the Pharaon S have as a habit to reward their most remarkable subjects. To reward a soldier is, for Pharaon, the occasion to check its popularity. By throwing gold with the lucky one since his balcony, in front of the crowd which presses itself, the king posts his magnificence and his gratitude. It happens sometimes that this ceremony proceeds inside the enclosure of the royal palace. In the large court, workmen build a baldachin out of carved wooden. On the base, decorated with low-reliefs, four columns support a platform covered with a roof to protect from the sun. The Pharaon borrows a framed staircase of sphinx from head of falcon to go to sit down on the throne. Around, the rewards are laid out on tables: objects out of gold, boxes, jewels, statuettes out of alabaster. If there are several elected officials, of the officers lead them one after the other to the foot of the estrade. Pharaon exempts with each one a word, a sentence to greet his merits. With its feet, the scribes note the names of the impétrants scrupulously and establish a precise inventory of what Pharaon gave this day: objects out of gold, Deben of gold and money, grounds and advances.
