Reuters () is a News agency international, founded in 1851 with London.
Nearly 2500 journalists, writers, photographers and cameramen work for Reuters in 150 countries throughout the world. But it is especially with economic and financial information that it owes its development and its notoriety in the Années 1970 with 1990.
Reuters is with dimensions in purse with the London Stock Exchange (RTR.L) and with the Nasdaq (RTRSY.O). The May 15th 2007, the rival group Thomson known as to have repurchased Reuters for the sum of 12,7 billion euro.
History
In October 1851, Paul Julius Reuter, an immigrant born in Germany, founds an agency in City in London to transmit the quoted values between London and Paris through the Calais-Douvre cable. He had previously worked for Charles-Louis Havas, founder in 1835 with Paris of the Agence Havas, ancestor of the Agence France-Press.
