Rescue (baseball)
With the Baseball, a launcher is credited with a rescue (English: save ) when it finishes a meeting for a victorious team by preserving the advance at the score acquired earlier in the part. The number of rescues is the principal statistics of the launchers of changing to baseball.
Definition
A rescue (abbreviation: SV or S ) is allotted to a launcher which answers the four following criteria:- it is the last launcher of the meeting gained by its team,
- it is not the launcher credited with the victory,
- it is credited with at least a third of launched sleeve,
- it fills at least one of these three conditions:
- it comes into play whereas its team does not carry out of more than 3 points and lance at least a complete sleeve,
- it comes into play with player able of marked point equalizing, this player being able to be on base, with striking or on standby to strike (that is to say the first two strikers which he must face),
- he launches " efficacement" at least at the time of the three last sleeves of the match after its entry concerned whereas its team leads to the score.
If the launcher makes lose its advance with the score with its team, it is not credited with the rescue, but can receive the victory if its team gains thereafter. Only one rescue can be allotted by meeting.
